Loft
Conversion Construction Stages (For a photographic step by step
guide to the construction stages of a loft conversion, click the link at the bottom
of this page) Week 1: Scaffolding is erected on
the front, rear and in some instances the side of your property. We
then create an opening to the front of your roof to gain access to your loft.
For the first 3 to 4 weeks our crew work from the scaffolding, in and
out of your loft as we try to keep you as dust free as possible. The
steels ( RSJs ) are then delivered, painted with the protective paint and then
lifted into your loft with the use of a crane to create the suspended floor.
Once the steels are in the loft, they are then secured into the main walls
and cemented in place. The floor joists are then fitted into place and
at This stage your local authority (council) is then Contacted to visit and inspect
the works for approval. Once approved we then move on to the next stage.
Week 2 & Week 3: On the second and third week the dormer
is erected. Once erected, secured and made water tight your local authority
is then contacted for the second inspection approval. Week 4
& Week 5: New roof tiles are hung on the dormer. A new
opening is created in the ceiling to make room for the new staircase.
All electrical and plumbing works completed where required. Insulate
and plaster board the dormer, ready for plaster skim. Week 6
& Week 7: We are now in the position to skim plaster the new rooms
and complete second fixings i.e skirting boards, light switches, power plugs,
smoke detector system. Remove all rubbish from site. Once
second fixings have been completed the local authority is contacted for the final
inspection. The
