Loft Conversion Costs

There seems to be some confusion as to what loft conversions are.

There are a number of different ways that a loft can be converted. However, not all loft conversions can be classified as loft bedrooms unless they are constructed to comply with current Building Regulations.

It stands to reason that loft conversion costs will vary depending on the type of loft conversions one requires.

In all cases a new structural floor will be installed, the relevant insulation that achieves the set U-values to be used and the electrics must always comply to document "P".

As the majority of houses in London and the South East are approximately 6 meters in width and 8 meters in depth, our loft conversion costs are based on those types of houses.

The prices generally start form £25,000.00 for an Eaves conversion (a room within your current loft) and this is merely just a guide line.

Rear Dormers, Hip to gable and Mansard conversions will vary in price.

A Loft conversion cannot be converted on the cheap. If they are, they are merely just a loft storage area with no value. In most cases they are unsafe and this could lead to your fire insurance been invalidated and may even drag down the price of your home as the roof has now been weakened, not to mention the danger your family and yourself could be put under as a result.

Programs such as Watchdog are continuously uncovering attempts made by some builders to cut corners by using sub-standard materials to offer cheap loft conversions in order to win jobs on the cheap.
